I would like to hear solutions and your experiences with monitoring DataStage jobs from Nagios or from any other external tool.
The requirement is to raise alerts on all jobs that finish with status <> OK, preferably real time or to run a scan every 10 minutes.

I've never had the opportunity of working with an external monitoring tool like that. How are your jobs being scheduled / launched? Any kind of Enterprise Scheduler would not only be running the jobs but doing also monitoring and reporting in real time. Now if your only scheduler is Director then you would need something else to monitor them unless you could afford to code failure emails into every job's After Job area.
Or as noted the Operations Console, if available in your version.
