Are the DataStage services started?

What DataStage tells you as error message?

Try putting a fullstop as the server name, try "localhost" as the server name, try an IP address as the server name, try the full extended laptop name as the server name, try all these combinations with and without login and password.

Hi,
I have installed the server version on my laptop. As Vincent pointed out, give the Host System as 'localhost' and if you have any "User accounts" created on your laptop, give the accounts user name and password.
If you have no User accounts then select the Omit option

Hi,
This is the message I am getting,
Failed to connect host : project:UV
(The host name specified is not valid, or the host is not responding(81011))
I checked all the datastage services are in running status.

Looks like you entered an empty hostname.

Better specify the user name and password along with correct host name.
Let us know still any issues...

One more suggestion
Install a loopback adapter, put the ip in host file and use that ip [ and loopback adapter is not a hardware.. googling for it will show you detailed instructions on how to do it]. You will need this in situations where your laptop does not have an ip assigned to it.

Why don't you try
not Omitting Username/password. I mean, explicitly type your computer's login id and password (if any).

If this is Windows XP then you may need a loopback adapter (as advised earlier) or to be connected to some device that can serve you an IP address.
