I want to upgrade considerable number of jobs from Version 4.0 to DataStage 7.5. Both are in Server version.
Pls let me know , what will be the easiest way.
Is it possible to import DS 4.0 version job in DS7.5 env. ?
if possible pls provide Architectural difference between DS 4.0 and DS 7.5

Yes, you can import the old jobs into version 7.5. The one significant change that affected many old jobs was that you used to be able to modify job parameter values inside the jobs and that won't work anymore.
Detailing the differences between the two versions is a bit much to do. This would be like having to note the differences between a 70's era Mustang car and a modern one. Rest assured that DataStage is backwards compatible and your jobs should run without problems.

I seem to recall the fact that there was some sort of internal change that made it so you couldn't go straight to 7.x from a version that old. Perhaps a first stop at 5.x and then the jump to 7.x was possible?
And yes, there are a slew of new stuff that you're missing, Sequence jobs being the biggest, if memory serves. It's been way too long to remember the gory details, though. Those are really questions for your official support provider. IMHO.

I didn't know of an internal change requiring "landing" at an interim version. Perhaps one could try editing the .dsx and changing the version number manually to see if all jobs load & compile.
Certainly no stages have been removed between versions 4 and 7.
