1000% is a very high number, and certainly more than the free buffer size can use.

If you specify the 1000% then the system won't use that, but some default value. Are you sure that the disk write increment is the same size as your maximum?
I've only heard the term "low water mark" referring to memory allocation on AIX systems, not as part of DataStage.Where does that error message come from?
