Ardent Datastage
Hi,
I have been working on Ibm Websphere Datastage version 8.0.1.
Today i came up with Ardent datastage .I have searched the forum and i came to know that Ardent is a vendor like Ascential.
Can any one discuss about the Ardent datastage tool ( the year which it was in the market, the new features that were not present in Ardent datastage like comparision between ardent and ascential).
Your inputs are highly appreciated.

Just google "DataStage Ghost" for my three part interview with the chief architect of DataStage and his take on the history, present and future of DataStage. It was done a couple years ago but talks about how he came up with the product and why DataStage 7 had to become Information Server 8.

Re: Ardent Datastage
I just think its VMARK->aRDENT->INFORMIX->ASCENTIAL->IBM
...if you want to get really specific, after the two subsidiaries were created out of Informix Corporation [one of which was Informix Software], we (DataStage team) called ourselves (internally) "NewCo" for 3 1/2 months prior to coining "Ascential".

Joined, Acquired...it's a relative term. ; ) What is important for this forum, I believe, is that new readers know that this "history" was largely driven by the DataStage management team, many of whom are still heavily involved at IBM. So DataStage wasn't just "tossed around" from company to company, but was a key thread going thru each of these changes. Vincent's discussions with Lee help underline that, and that's just from the engineering angle. There has been consistency along many paths, including everyone on this forum from a partner and user community perspective.
