architectural difference in the repositories.
.Hi Gurus,
i have stuck up with a problem .
what are the difference of the meta-data repositories between the server and parallel version.
do they use universe database for storing metadata.
i want to know of the repository used in the server and parallel version.
A business analyst asked me these questions.
i replied that, there is no difference in the metadata repositories b/w server and parallel versions, i said them that both use universe itself.
can any one plz guide me in architecture difference.
cheers;
abhi

What is it today with two allegedly different people asking the same question? Abhi - are you by any chance associated with the person making this post?
As to your questions:
a) The repository hasn't been Universe for some time now.
b) The repository is now the DataStage Engine, which does bear a striking resemblance to Universe.
c) Server and Parallel jobs all share the same single repository.
Hope this gets you unstuckup. Prepare to get restuckup with 8.0 comes out and all the answers change.![Wink ](./images/smilies/icon_wink.gif)

The repository ought to be of no interest whatsoever for a business analyst. It does not affect how the business is analyzed. (Of course the BA may simply be curious.)

hi,
yaa data stage server repository resides on universe.
similarly parallel version too.
the arcitectural are of no difference.
handling metadata has noting to do with datastage server or parallel version, every thing depends on schema.
this is to my knowledge, prob gurus can give you more detailed explaination.
