In my source I have Char(1) datatype of field . When I bring metadata to DS this field is Dispalyed as Binary(1) with symbol @ instead of a one letter

Unless you explain nobody will know the point.
1. What is your column defined as in your database DDL?
2. What is your column defined as in your source stage accessing the database in DataStage?

Are you trying to view unconverted EBCDIC value?

If the database has it declared as CHAR(1) then why are you declaring it differently in DS and what happens if you keep the CHAR(1) in you DataStage job?

Hi all !!!
The problem was resolved by assigning CCSID 424 for Hebrew
All fields were char represented in HEX format
