OSH processes

You could use a rough guideline of one job per stage in your job multiplied by the number of nodes. I think the docs explain exactly which stages trigger processes and which baseline pids get fired off as well.
Do you need a more exact computation?

Some recent posts seem to suggest a belief that a server will support an infinite number of processes. That you are trying to size the server is commendable. Arnd's guideline is for one job - you must also have the discipline to avoid starting more jobs than the machine that you specify can handle - and impose that discipline on others.
