Is MQ manager the actual server engine or an admin tool?

Untill Release 7, MQ server needs to be installed on DS server for the local queue manager.
In 7.5.1.A, the websphere MQ stage guide has a line in the functionality
"MQ Series Client-only Option". What does this mean? Does this mean we dont need to have server installed on the DSserver?
Can someone give an update of MQseries stage in Version 7.5.1.A?

Thanks Robin but Client keeps asking me why and why?
Is it that the WMQ plug-in calls server libraries rather than client libraries?
But why didnt Ascential engineers didnt code to call the client ones?
Thanks again
