Since there is no mechanism to restore log files, taking a direct backup is not a useful exercise. You can export the log information using dsjob -log options and can save that generated output.
How to import the export file.

there is no backup and no restore mechanism for DataStage log files.

Why would they ever be 'needed' back in the actual job log? Access them where you've decided to archive them...
