Aggregator warning as viewed in director log

Post by samplify »

Hi:
I am using group property in aggregator to group columns according to the requirement...however i get the following warning when i try to view log in datastage director...
AGG040: When checking operator: User inserted sort "SRT030" does not fulfill the sort requirements of the downstream operator "APT_SortedGroup2Operator in AGG040"
Any idea what its all about?
Efforts for replying appreciated..

Hi and Welcome Aboard :),
In aggregator stage you can specify that you have presorted the data on certain column/s.
This is done to improove performance, basicly you say that once you encounter a new entry in the columns you specified the sort was on the aggregator stage can assume it won't get any more results with the previous combinations of those column/s, so the aggreagtor stage can down-stream the computed results of those grouped columns.
Your error simply says: Hey you said the data was sorted but it's not :!:
So you simply need to make sure the data is sorted the way you said it is.
Since it's your first post please make sure you go thru the docs on how to use that stage.
IHTH,
Roy R.
