Hi,
I have problem with installing DS EE on Solaris 5.10.
I've set all variables according to documentation.

Perhaps I need some special path for Solaris?

Did you meet such problem?

Anka

Hi,
what problems?
what EE version you try to install?
I think I'll perform a similar operation in a few months when we upgrade as well.

you'll need to post way more info,
when do you get it?
explain the process you went thru and so on.
there is little anyone can say regarding an obscure question with so little info in it.

1. Did you read the Install and Upgrade Guide document?

2. Are you installing using the root account?

Edit: Solaris 5.10? There is no such thing. The only supported version of Solaris for DataStage is 2.8 and 2.9 (8 and 9).

There is supported v. 2.10 too.
I am not expert of Solaris but I think that verion 2.10 consist of 5.10 + some more SOlaris products.
If I am wrong please correct me.

Roy,
When I read documentation I set all needful variables.
Then I run install.sh ( I have dsadm user in dsstage group).
After I choosed "Y" twice I got the error:
"
sh: ./setup.:cannot execute
ERROR: reading return code in /tmp/dsinstall/.dsinstall
"

I don't know what can I tell you more...

Solaris 2.10 (aka 5.10, aka 10) is not supported for DataStage 7.5a. Sorry.
SPARC 2.8, 2.9
Solaris is a 64bit OSs with 32 bit compatibility. DataStage is a 32bit application
Contact Ascential Support to get the official line on this.

Even if this version isn't supported I think that it should be possible to install it.
Do these two versions: 2.10 and 2.9 differ much?

I think that setup. should run.

Am I wrong?

That is not a fair attitude to have when we are dealing with an operating system. It is like saying that Windows 2000 and Windows XP are not much different.

Ascential made a point on specifically saying what is supported and what is not. If you are able to get something to work on something that is not supported, congratulation! But if it doesn't work on unsupported versions, do not be surprised.

For example, a simple change in runtime C libraries on AIX have been known to break DataStage. Simply because IBM thought that a specific API should be called a different way, without retaining any legacy code. It was a bug fix, and a very poorly implemented bug fix at that.

Hi,
A supporting solaris 10 version was supposed to be out already,
So contact your support for the correct DS version or the date when it comes out if it had not yet for some reason.

Hi,
Is any version of DSEE supported on x86 architecture installation of Solaris? I want to install it on the Solaris 9, which is installed on intel platform.

Piotrek
