Does DataStage run on 64 bits platforms?
Thanks for informations.

Do you mean Windows 64-bit OS's (Maybe) or UNIX 64-bit OS's (Yes)?
See
Ascential Product Availability for details on versions.

Note: On some 64 bit platforms DataStage still runs as a 32 bit application.

Eric - I think DS is still a 32-bit application internally on all platforms. I don't know about EE though, I haven't looked at the build scripts or the compiler settings.

I could have sworn - back in the day - when I was running on a Tru64 cluster and 6.0 came in the door, it went from 32bit to 64bit as part of that upgrade. There was a need to upgrade to a specific compiler release and I thought mention was made of large speed increases directly as a result of everything being compiled as 64bit executables.
Or I could be missing a few brain cells...

Craig,
I think the last time I saw the source was with 5; so things might have changed. You've gotten me curious, though!

Tru64 is an exception to many, many rules!
Craig's recollection is correct, but even before version 6 there had to be a lot of tweaking inside the code to ensure that "word" boundaries were based upon eight-byte words, particularly in shared memory segments.

Yah... it was so extra special and exception-full that we are
always at the end of the port list. "It won't be ready for
our platform until
when?"
