Reading Datasets.

Hi All,
I 've following questions on datasets.
1) if a dataset is created in GRID Env with 8 compute nodes and 1 partition configuration, can we read that (in another job) with 2 compute node 1 partition configuration? If yes ,how it works?
2)Can we read a dataset that is created in GRID Env using non GRID Env.(static CONFIG file)?
