MKS ToolKit Installation Failed

Post by shivadas »

Hi All,

I am trying to install Datastage 7.5x2 on my Laptop which has OS Win 7. I have administrator rights to install. While installing at 33% I could see that MKS ToolKit installation message. After few seconds there is an error message which pops up.

Error Message:

MKSToolKit Error was 536870918
Win32 Error was 1603

If anyone have faced the same issue or got the solution please help me.

Note: Same software works well on my desktop on Windows XP Professional

Thanks
Shiva

That would be your classic "unsupported Operating System" error. And 1603 just means "Fatal error during installation".

do you mean chulett, The version of Datastage I have doesn't support Win 7? Is there another way to fix like installing vm or some thing else.

May be you have to try with Windows 7 enterprice edition or else you can do it using Windows XP or Windows Server 2003 on VMWare.
If you still get error related to MKS toolkit then try following steps,
1) Delete the InformationServer folder in c:\Program Files\Common Files\InstallShield\Universal\IBM
2) Remove any MKS - Mortice Kens Software key in the registry
3) Delete the MKS Toolkit folder in C:\Program Files
4) Reboot to install

Thanks,
Vinod.

No version of DataStage supports Windows 7 for the server product. Client maybe, server no. As noted, for VM, a supported O/S should work just fine.
