Can't login the Datastage Server and The connection is broke

Post by zhulinqingfeng2 »

Hi All:

I use a linux server for datastage and db2, days ago I can access the server from my client(designer, administrator, director, manager), but yesterday,I can't access the server by these 4 clients, and I got the same error information as below:

Failed to connect to host: 192.168.179.2, project: UV
(The connection is broken (81002))

I can ping successful to the server and also be able to ping my client from the server.
I am expecting your good idea to give me some advice to guide me to solve the issue.
Thanks a lot

Winnie

Is this a one-time message or do you get this message consistently?

When I try to log into the server, I may got the error information one time. And I have tried many times without any luck to log into the server.
Each time that I try to login, I may get the error information.
Thanks

Do you know if the server was very busy when you tried it? Also, I dind't quite understand from your answer if this problem always happens or if you can sometimes login successfully.

Hi,Thanks for your quick reply. The server is configed by myself and I use it as a test env for me. So it can't be busy. for the second question: I cann't log into it . And one more thing, when I try to use a wrong user_id and wrong password to test the log in, the client doesn't check the user_id and password, it still response the above error informaiton.
Thanks

Not in version 7.

Can you please check that the dsrpcd process is running on the server? (Although I would expect a different error code if it were not running.)

Can you try re-booting your client machine?

Ray has already posted that this functionality is not available at V7, just from V8 onwards. I didn't notice that you were using the previous version. Luckily, this type of problem is simpler to debug at your version 7.

The output of your "ps -ef | grep dsrpcd" command shows that the rpcd is not running on your machine, which explains why you cannot login.

Did you reboot the DataStage server? If yes, and the "dsrpcd" is not running, then attach to the DataStage home directory (usually "cd $DSHOME" will do the trick) and then issue a "bin/uv -admin -start" command and post your output.

Hi,ArndW:

I reboot the server and use the $DSHOME/bin/uv -admin -start command, then the information in the screen said:
DataStage Engine 7.5.3.1 instance "ade" has been brought up.
Starting JobMonApp
JobMonApp has been started.

and below is the output of the uv command:

ps -ef | grep dsrpcd
root 4875 1 0 10:03 pts/0 00:00:00 /home/dsadm/Ascential/DataStage/ DSEngine/bin/dsrpcd
dsadm 5053 4674 0 10:06 pts/0 00:00:00 grep dsrpcd

right now I still get the same error.
Thanks a lot

Try re-booting the client (the "Microsoft solution"). You may have a dirty connection handle.

Can you log in using the Administrator client? It uses a slightly different mechanism.

If the connection is broke maybe you could give it some money!
