synsog - you recent posts are all "what is the difference between stage A and stage B" questions. Since the answers are evident by reading the documentation supplied with DataStage and also in the on-line help, it would seem that you prefer to have other people answer your questions instead of actually reading the documentation.

This question is typical. The transform stage is a powerful stage which can also perform filtering. The filter stage only does filtering, but is more compact and is more efficient.

It is similar to asking "Should I use a screwdriver or my Swiss Army knife to tighten a screw".

Are these interview questions?
