DS v8.1 will work in Window 7

DS8.1 client version will work in Windows 7 ?

I'd like to offer a partial answer: If you are running Win7 Home Premium, Microsoft offers software ($89.00) to update Win7 HP to Win7 Pro. Win7 Pro contains software to create a virtual XP session within the Win 7 OS. I have used this XP session to download and install DataStage 8.1 Client as well as executing other "XP" programs. I have no DataStage server connection available now, so I cannot say "it works".

Sorry ... I didn't actually answer your question: No ... 8.1 is not Certificated (hmmmm is that the right word?) for any flavor of Windows 7.

Yes it will. We are upgrading and they did a POC and it worked.

But it's not certified for the server components and therefore IBM would be within their rights to refuse support for that combination.
