Migration from 7.0.1 to 8.1

Post by Jayakannan »

Hi,

While migrating a project from 7.0.1 to 8.1, what are the points need to be considered? Is there any documents available for this?

Hi,

What's the 7.0 version type ? Server or Parallel ?
If you migrate from Server Jobs to Parallel Jobs, you will need to rewrite your whole jobs as it is not the same logic.

I don't think there is a lot of free documentation available related to because it is considering as consulting.

Install the 8 client, even if you have no 8 Server yet. This will give you the documentation you need, including 'Migration Guide' and a 'Planning, Installation and Configuration Guide'.

7.0 is parallel edition. DS is installed on Unix AIX 5.1.
Unix server will be upgraded to AIX 6.1 for 8.1 installation.

Reconfigured? No, I don't believe so. Have you gone thru the documentation yet? Just to be safe, have you confirmed that 8.1 is supported on AIX 6.1?
