Sybase,0: U_TRUNCATED_CHAR_FOUND encountered.

Hi Guys,
I am using sybases as my source database, everything looks fine untill i get the following error:
Sybase,0: U_TRUNCATED_CHAR_FOUND encountered.
We have character values and i do not know how to trin them as trim does not function in sybase.
This is a fatal error so that is the reason iam too concerned.
could you please let me know how to tackle this.
