I am surprised an IBM rep is saying that because it's a black mark against the product if it does not run as well against Oracle and SQL Server repositories. They will lose business to Informatica if they start spreading stories like that. You shouldn't have to train up in DB2 just to support one product repository - you should be able to go with Oracle.
We run against an Oracle 10i repository. We have one verified Oracle specific problem where we get a repository access error if we try to access a level four repository folder but they have sent us a patch for that (haven't tried it yet). I also have performance issues with navigating around Information Analyzer metadata import but that could be due to network or configuration issues. Apart from that the Oracle repository seems to run well.
