Hello,

I'm trying to import a .dsx file into Datastage Manager.

I'm on the Windows Enterprise (parallel) version 7.5x2.

This is actually the setup file for the Server-Parallel Training by Ray Wurlord.

When I try to import it I get the following error:

File F:\S2P_Setup.dsx does not appear to be a valid DataStage export file or is from an incompatible release.

A valid DataStage export file is expected to be in Windows format (i.e. using CRLF line terminators).

I have a text editor tool called UltraEdit which asks me to convert the file to DOS format so I tried that but still no go.

Here is the header information in the file:

BEGIN HEADER
CharacterSet "ENGLISH"
ExportingTool "Ascential DataStage Export"
ToolVersion "4"
ServerName "razor"
ToolInstanceID "S2P2_DEV"
MDISVersion "1.0"
Date "2007-11-21"
Time "12.22.50"
ServerVersion "7.5.1.A"
END HEADER

Do I need to change this?

solved it

I used UltraEdit to convert the line terminators to CR/LF (DOS).

Problem was on the Save in UltraEdit needed to specify CR/LF in the save as window - was on default even though the UltraEdit was configured to DOS by default.

Yes, that information probably should have gone out as a readme on the resource disk. The server (razor) uses a Linux operating system. Well done for resolving it.
