Compile or Force Compile

Post by dspxguy »

Hi Folks,

Our Datastage 7.5.2 Server will be upgraded to 7.5.3 and we would like to know if we need to check this option Force Compile ( Parallel Jobs) while running Multiple Compilation wizard.

Code: Select all

DataStage 7.5.3 Release notes:

Parallel Jobs must be re-compiled after upgrade

Since you are upgrading your version of DataStage, I would recommend that you do a force compile. We experienced some issue with compiles and our support provider recommended force compiles. The reason given was that DS would try to be efficient and only compile parts of the job that it determined were changed and could result in problems.

This occurred in V8.0.1 and may not be relevant to your version of DataStage. I can't clearly remember the situation but I do remember the support vendors recommendation.

We too upgraded our DS server from 7.5.1 to 7.5.3, we done the normal compile and promoted code to newer version and didn't find any issues.
Any way, why to worry do the force compile.
