I have not specified any schema file in a job but specified the metadata in the columns tab and if i enable RCP will it carry the metadata to the following stage or only schema file should be used if i need RCP to be enabled?

RCP and schema files are not necessarily co-joined. If you have RCP enabled and you have defined your metadata fully, there's no difference. However, you should be aware that RCP has the need for a schema file for certain stage types. Please refer to the PX Developer Guide which fully details all this information.
