The big hurdle is the installation and different security implementation.

Existing DataStage jobs should work fine (assuming 8.0.1 with all fix packs applied). To protect yourself, take two exports and an operating system backup (verified) before beginning the upgrade.

Read through the installation/upgrade documentation very carefully and have prepared answers ready for the questions that will be asked (such as where to put things, names of administrators, and so on).

You get some new toys, but these won't be immediately in your existing jobs (obviously).

As Ray mentioned take proper backups for DS7.x project, related unix file systems (DataSets, Hashed Files(if Server) and other files),configuration file, dsenv / DSParms. Everything is explained in doc "Migrating to IBM Information Server Version 8".
