Hi,

we have Datastage 7.5.2 version in Unix platform and we are planning to install Datastage 8.0 in Linux based grid platform.

Once we install Datastage 8.0, Can we use Datastage 8 client to connect with Datastage 7.5.2 server and work\compile 7.5.2 Jobs.

No, the DataStage clients have never been backwards- or forwards- compatible and will only work with their specific Version server counterparts.

In other words you'd need both clients installed into separate locations. Before 8.x you would also need the 'MCM' or Multiple Client Manager as well as only one client can be used at a time. Anyone know if this is still possible with 8?

Yes Craig, it is possible with 8.0 as well. I have used MCM to connect to Datastage 7.5.2 on Windows and Datastage 8.0.1 on Linux. However as you said, only one at a time can be accessed.

Thanks

Good to know. Wasn't sure if 8 changed things enough such that the MCM no longer worked.

Can you please tell me what is this Multiple client manager. Is this a Datastage utility or 3rd party application. Any links which will give more details will be of great help. Thanks in advance

Multi client manager is a Datastage utility to allow you to connect to different versions of Datastage from one PC. When you install new client for Datastage 8.0, don't delete previously installed client. While installation of new client, it will ask you to install Multi client manager . Just install it and you will be able to connect to both versions of Datastage through it (only one at a time) . It is not a third party tool. It comes with Datastage.

Thanks!
