Datastage 8 has only 3 client component,i.e DstgManger is merged with Dstg Director and there is additional SDC stage.

The question is similar to asking "What is the difference between Windows 3.0 and Windows NT?" and expecting a good answer.

1.Datastage manager is gone.
2.All Manager functionality has been moved into the DataSatge Designer.
3.New stages are added like i.e., SCD stage,Connector satge

But of all the changes I think that the disappearance of the Manager is among the more trivial and unimportant ones!
I would put the integration of IIS and the moving of many repository elements from the local hashed files to a SQL compliant database of the user's choice at the top of the list.

DataStage 0.5
So if we upgrade from 7.5.2, we'd only be getting 0.4.8 of a Datastage? Hardly worth it, really!

0.4.8 of DataStage would be "DataS" with rounding, right?

I'll chime in here with a couple...

- far better search capability
- way far better impact analysis capability, dependencies, etc.
- the performance monitor for EE jobs
- qualityStage becomes a first class citizen on the DataStage/QualityStage canvas
- a "smarter" MQ 'stage' (called a Connector now)
- better central control and authentication of DataStage users
