job save option is disabled

Post by just4geeks »

Hi

I have just finished configuring Information server 8.0.1 for Datastage. Connection between client and server is up and running. I can open datastage designer/administrator/director etc. Everything is working fine but when I tried saving a test job, the save option is disabled. I guess I did not specify working folder or something during configuration but I don't know where to do that. any help would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance. Here is image of whats happening

Can you actually select the test folder, so that it appears in the Folder Path field?

Do you have appropriate permissions in the DataStage project directory, appropriate privileges to the XMETA database, and appropriate credentials for Information Server?

The odd thing is that you have no "jobs" category to save into. Can you try to enter "\Jobs\testjob" to create a new folder and save into that?

I did ...and save option become enabled to my surprise ..but when I clicked 'save' another error appeared.

"Mapping failed to find or create the target instance: Jobdef->DsJobDef(EObject:null, JobDefn)"

and when I clicked 'OK' then again clicked Save from tool bar then it said...

"Cannot find Job Root"

Then you have a bad installation or insufficient access rights as mentioned in an earlier response. I still find it odd that you have no "jobs" category, but that could be explained by the access rights issue to even read the repository.

The Repository in version 8 is "free format" as far as branch and category names are concerned - you don't have to have any particular names. That said, and as Arnd is alluding to, the product usually installs a Jobs branch for you.

Let me know how to check if we have set-up correct access rights
DSADM user permissions
XMETA access
