FTP Stage

HI
I am using the enterprise FTP stage..i am giving the syntax as
ftp://ip[port]/xxx/xxx/xxx
and the id and password of the destination system
ans selecting the command as ftp..
but it say invalid syntax....
As far as my knowlege the syntax is correct
can you help me know what else i shouldbe doing
and also
I have a few questions regarding the ftp stage
1. I want to know if datastage 7.5.2 does sftp or it is only ftp.....
2.I want to know if we can ftp to a linux box
3.can we ftp zip files

I don't know about your syntax error....Not enough information given ......But to your questions?

1. I want to know if datastage 7.5.2 does sftp or it is only ftp.....

No SFTP in pre-IS 8....IS 8.0.1 will now provide SFTP option......

2.I want to know if we can ftp to a linux box ...
