Problem connecting to ODBC Connector stage

I am unable to parameterise the values for the ODBC Connector stage to connect to the Sql server source system.I have already defined parameters for it in the Administrator.The hardcoded values are working fine but the softcoded values gives me a bad connection message ,moreover,it doesn't even let me view the data.Can anybody help.

Are u using the ODBC connector stage for the first time in the project ,is it configured correctly by the project administrator,please go through the documentation to chk how it can be configured in UNIX.
