You can do version control in datastage using Datastage Version Controller.

Be more precise what you mean by version control. In DataStage, Version Control has nothing whatsoever to do with job type, so your "in DSPX" is either misleading or moot.

If you're talking about keeping track of various versions of datastage jobs, you can always put the .dsx into the version control system.
If you're talking about doing baselines and merges, then you have to wait for the version after Hawk.(Or later).

DataStage Version Control does keep track of different versions of jobs. It can auto-increment version numbers when jobs are promoted from development to test, for example. However, it does not have check-out, check-in capability. That is, it is version control, not source code control.

Where can we get the details of Datastage Version Control? Is it a tool like Visual Source Safe? Where can we read more about it? In which PDF file in online documentation is it documented? I would appreciate any help.

It ships free with the product, but is a separate install. There is built in help and a .pdf for it was well.

These are the pdfs I have in my Online Help. I looked through several but could not find any information.

DataStage Install and upgrade Guide
DataStage Designer Guide
DataStage Manager Guide
DataStage Director Guide
DataStage Administrator Guide
DataStage NLS Guide
DataStage Plug-in Documentation
Datastage Enterprise Edition: Parallel Job Developer's Guide
Datastage Enterprise Edition: Parallel Job Advanced Developer's Guide

4 Server Guides and 1 MVS Edition Guides.

Can you tell me in which one I should look for it?

Once you install the VC client you will be able to view the documents as well. Ask your Admin to install that for you or do it yourself if you have the privelages.

The PDF is in the Docs sub-folder under Version Control on the DataStage clients CD. You can move it to the same location as your other docs if you choose to install Version Control on a particular client machine.

I was going to say something similar, but then I actually popped the cdrom in and checked.

Nope, no stand-alone pdf in the Version Control folder. Figured it must be packed in the cab file, needing an actual install to release it.
