Yes, you have to copy...

I did not copied the configuration file but configured the new server as the old one.

Not really recommended. V8.1 has got new parameters which are not in previous versions. A small example: V8.1 has these 2 very important parameters which are not in 7x
RTLogging
ORLogging
Copying the whole DSParams file from V7x to V8.1 won't be a good idea.

I would copy and paste just the user-defined parameters section of DSParams from old to new. For the other sections I would put a copy of the before and after DSParams onto your client machine and use a text file comparison utility to find the differences between the 7.x file and the 8.x file and apply those changes to 8.1 manually through the DataStage Administrator.

Hi All,

We have already spent lot of time in upgrading from 7.1 to 8.0.1 . Is the upgradation from 8.0.1 to 8.1 tedious ?

Pls let us know your experiences

Regards

8.0.1 to 8.1 is not nearly as bad as 7 to 8. You might encounter a few new bugs (we did) so be prepared to spend time working with IBM on patches.

Do not copy DSPARAMS! Even between 8.1 environments. Get a good file merge application like winmerge.org and merge your 7.5 file into your 8.1 after the install/upgrade. Winmerge will make it easier to work out what rows need to be copied across and what rows need to be overwritten and what should be left alone.
