Teradata Variant

Post by Azzuri »

Hi All, was wondering the impact of using a lower Variant in the Teradata Connector? For example I've noticed developers using Variant 8.1 rather than 12. We are currently on version 13 of Teradata TTUs.

Thanks in advance.

If you are using Teradata 13 you should be using variant 12. Variant 8.1 was for TTU 8.1 and 8.2. Variant 12 is for > TTU 12 (not sure about 14). The Variant loads the library for the Teradata client.

We have Teradata 14 and have not even contemplated using the lower variant.

As explained by kcirtap24 , variant 12 is used to load teradata utilities for TTU 12 and higher. These utilities are used when performing Bulk loads.
For normal loads, it doesn't matter what variant you use.
