Post by synsog »

Hi all,
One of my requirement is to source Japanese data and process it through ETL framework to production

While doing profiling, I am not able to read the data in a correct form and not sure how these character are encoded in MF file. If anybody has any idea
Kindly share across with me which will help me to profile the data.

Source : Mainframe file

There are very many different mappings possible when coming from mainframes, particularly for Japanese. Nobody here can tell you, you need to find out from the mainframe people which one they used; and possible also if there was any mapping done during the Mainframe -> DS Server FTP process.

The short answer is that you must find out how the characters are encoded in the mainframe-sourced file.
