Insert job parameter in PX Stages behaves oddly

Post by bidsadw »

I am seeing some rather annoyimg behaviour in PX josb

I was recently upgraded to Windows 7 and am using DS 7.5.2

as an example, if I open up a sequential stage in a px job and goto properties to insert a parameter, it should work like thsi:

1 - Select the drop down list Insert Job Parameter
2 - A dialogue box opens
3 - I select the job parameter I want

What is actually happening is:

1 - Select the drop down list Insert Job Parameter
2 - A dialogue box opens BUT it open in the background
where I cannot see it ( pushed way back behind all the other open windows )
3 - I cannot select my parameter

I have tried to see wher the dialogue box is by doing ALT-TAB but no luck

has anyone else seen this?

It's possible the dialogue box is opening off-screen. Try these steps to see if you can move it back:

1. Press Alt-tab until you are on the screen that won't display
2. Press Alt-Space
3. Choose M for Move
4. Use the arrow keys to move it on to your monitor

No joy

the window does not show up on ALT-TAB

The only way I can get it to show up eventualy is to start minimizing all my other windows. Once I find it I cannot move it

Just for the record... Windows 7 is not a supported platform for the client nor the server and is likely the cause of your issue.

Craig, Windows 7 Home Edition is not supported for client or server, but there are other editions of Windows 7 that are supported for the newer Info Server clients, again not servers. Definitely no version of Windows 7 is supported for DS 7.x as most likely Windows 7 didn't even exist back then...

Right... specifically mentioned that because their post was marked as the 7.x release, but thanks for the clarification.

Out of curiosity, I checked the IBM web site and found this about Windows 7:

8.5 and higher clients are supported on Windows 7 Professional, Windows 7 Enterprise, or Windows 7 Ultimate.

Note that Home Edition is not listed. 8.1 and older don't list Windows 7 at all.

Therefore, clients prior to 8.5 are not supported on any edition of Windows 7.

1 "thrill seeking" visitor to the system requirements web page. :) Just a joke as sometimes I wonder if I am the only one who attempts to review system requirements before installing...

You're not, but it seems you've found a web page that no-one else uses. I use the link from Information Center, but that page doesn't have a visitors counter on it.

Ah. Something akin to
