unable to import Oracle tables metadata

Post by RK72 »

When I am trying to import the oracle tables metadata it says unable to initialize plug-in.In the environment variables I gave the PXEngine/lib and bin path ahead of Oracle bin/lib path but still it gives the error message. The client is Oracle 32 bit 10g version.

What option you are selecting to import metadata from oracle. It is Orchestrate or plug-in metadata. Orchestrate is better for Oracle, if you go by plug-in metadata, DS will make you suffer for your decision.

Have you managed to connect to this Oracle instance from this datastage box before trying this? if so what stage have you used?

What's Windows OS, 2003 Server, or 2008 Server? First, try to connect to your DB using SQL*Plus to verify whether you can connect. If you are able to connect, then most likely the problem (unable to initialize Plug-in) is caused by the Oracle client's info did not get picked during the installation of DS. Actually you only need the Oracle\Client\bin directory in your PATH.
Do you have multiple Oracle products installed on your machine?
