Hi Dawar,
We are also facing the same problem, we are getting pound symbol from source xml, since NLS is not installed we are not able to convert the pound symbol.
Hi ray,
can you please advice us if any workaround for this issue.
Thanks,

Hi Chulett\Rayray.wurlod wrote:Just to be clear, when you say "pound symbol" do you mean the currency symbol (₤) or the sharp sign (#)? ...
Apologies for the late response
we are using datastage 8.0.1
OS is UNIX
NLS is not installed.
Job Details,
we are receiving price information for the products in the form of XML,
Job Design:
MQ stage-----> XML input stage-----> Transformer-----> intermediate dataset.
for some products the ARTICLE_DESCRPTION column is having ₤ symbol,so after running the job we found its populating some invalid character for that ₤ symbol, since NLS is not installed its taking default character set as UTF 8,
Note: currently our jobs in production, we are trying to do some workaround to fix this issue but no luck, so please advice me if any alternative solution for this issue.
Recently we installed datastage 8.5 with NLS,so i developed the same job in 8.5 and changed the NLS setting to ISO-8850-1,its successfully reading the ₤ pound symbol.
Thanks,
Ram.
