WAS information

Could someone please tell me the bit info of WAS which comes as bundeled with 8.1.

I tried to run various command but none of them tells me if it is a 32 bit or 64 bit.

What I understood from the docs is;8.1 comes with 64 bit was WAS64-aix.6.0.2.27 but to make use of 64 bit,we will have to install it before IIS otherwise in default installation,only 32 bit of WAS will be configured.

can someone correct me if I am wrong ??

Please tell me the command which can tell me the version of WAS running.

I ran versioninfo.sh but its doesn't give me the bit info.

Hi,

since websphere application server runs as a java process (ibm java is shipped with was), the following statement might be useful as well:

/opt/IBM/WebSphere/AppServer/java/bin/java -version

Ray,
head -1 log.txt doesn't say much,This i what i get -

I dont think there is any bit level information here in o/p.

Thanks Werner,I know we can get Java version,I have already written a small java code to get those info but I am looking to find my answer within WAS level like we get in WAS 7.

I have seen all the line and can see all those information about WAS but there is no trace of bit level information..

Yes Warner,I have already seen that but this command doesn't give you the WAS bit information.

Java command just gives you JVM bit information,What I actually looking for is to extract bit information from WAS.

if it was a 32bit version of was you would find a 32bit version of ibm jvm in the java/bin directory of was but you may use the unix file command in conjunction with executable(s).

in addition i found an ibm technote on how to determine the bit-depth for 6.1 on solaris (there should be no great difference to 6.0.27 and other unix operating systems regarding this particular question). as you can see it's all about investigation around the jre in use.

to be honest the ps -ef command (in case of was for information server with a grep for server1 or java) is a good thing as well.

Line 5 or all lines doesn't tell me the bit(32/64) information in any language,Could you see that ??

At the top you mentioned that 6.0.2.27 is for 64-bit and anything lower is for 32-bit, and I indicated that this was correct.

Therefore I reject your reality and substitute my own (the quote's from "Mythbusters", a TV show).

What I mean to say in my very first question is to know a way to find bit information of the WAS which is bundled with 8.1 suit irrespective of its version.

Werner indicated that JVM version is what we get from Java command and that should be WAS version,I agree on that part.

As per your last post,If 6.0.2.27 is 64 bit then why JVM is 32 bit ??
