Stopping the job - Diffce ?

Post by videsh77 »

What is the difference of Stopping a job through DS Director & through kill -9 option for the DS job execution ?

I have noticed kill -9, not necessarily work always.
Thanks with regards,
videsh.

The former is the right way while the latter is about as wrong of a way as you can get.

Just in case Craig left any doubts open - never use kill -9.

Make sure you spend some time researching what the various kill "signals" mean, specifically how "-9" differs from say a plain "kill" or a "kill -15".
