Post by balu536 »

Hi all,
Can we perform Max function present in the Aggregator stage on the Varchar data.If so please explain me the procedure how to preserve the datatype as the output datatype of a Max function is Double by default.

Stage --> properties --> Agrregations ---> aggregation type calculation --> click on column for calculation --> see in available properties to add .

The instructions worked just fine for me but then I'm on 7.5.2. Did you highlight the Column for Calculation then scroll the Available Properties to Add over to the right?

Yes I did..all I could see are many options but not Preserve Type.

The availabe properties are:
Corrected Sum of Squares Output Column, Max Value output column so on

They are in alpha order, so you'd need to keep going. There are 18 options in all and 'Preserve Type' is between 'Percent Coefficient of Variation Output Column' and 'Range Output Column'. If you don't see that, then I guess it was something added in 7.5.2 and you would get it if you upgraded.
