Sorry Craig, there was another deliverable yesterday and so couldn't get back to this...well, when i tried placing a file with multiple email addresses alone, it did work. But my file has several rows starting like.. project name-email1@address,email2@adress,email3@address etc...so when i try to strip the "project name-" and get the right(string,n it throws me that error. ...

yes, it now works...whew!
after stripping the project name and storing it in a different file, i used the user variable stage to remove the Fieldmark @FM and have passed this to the Mail Notification stage and got my notification too.. :D
