My problem is:

DataStage are connected via a wire protocol to AS400

Search DSXchange for more. DataDirect drivers that ship with DataStage are licensed only for use with out-of-the-box stage types (mainly ODBC and RDBMS using ODBC), but give a 15 day grace period to other use. Your grace period (from first use) has now elapsed.

If you are only using stock-standard stage types, hassle your vendor and support provider to get a valid DataDirect licence.

Connected how? Via an ODBC stage or some other mechanism? If the former, then as Ray noted you need to hassle your vendor and get them to straighten things out.
