Hi,

We are facing the following error while sending email notification.



email..JobControl (DSSendMail): Error when executing command: C:\IBM\InformationServer\Server\Projects\demo_geetha\sendmail_email_37516250_4176.bat
*** Output from command was: ***
SMTPMail Looking up server...
SMTPMail Opening connection to smtp.mail.yahoo.com ...
SMTPMail Server closed the connection!

Please check any paths in the following command file are correct, and if necessary adjust the 'dssendmail_template.txt' file in the project directory.

Contents of command file:
C:\IBM\InformationServer\Server\DSEngine\bin\dssmtpmail.exe -file sendmail_email_37516250_4176_file.tmp

My SMTP mail server name : smtp.mail.yahoo.com
Data stage 8.0 is installed on windows 2003 server

1)Is there any configuration to be done on server for sending email
2)Should 'dssendmail_template.txt' be edited,if yes what are settings to be done?

I can't answer the question, but check with whomever administers that server, have them verify the SMTP server (etc) you should be using.

Yes....our system admin configured internal mail server(hmail server) ,and we had to use that server address...
There is nothing to do with configuring notification activity or environmental variables of datastage.
Only the mail server you are using should permit to do so.

But howcome your Smtp name is smtp.mail.yahoo.com ??

I was using yahoo earlier since my company mail was not supported.

then I tried with hmail server which is free mail server.

The above error was when I was usinng yahoo as mail server.
