Creating directory structures

Post by sigma »

We are setting up a new instance of the datastage and we are rather new to the product here in Sigma

We have a question about the directories where we can create the hash files, datasets sequential files.

Is it a recommended practice not to have that directory under the Project directory.

For example if we have a project called DEVL, Is it a good practice to have the datafiles directory like SOURCE, TARGET, TEMP etc under the path

/usr/IBM/InformationServer/Server/Projects/DEVL

or SHOULD we

create directories outside of the project path.

What is the best practise.

Not only outside of the project path, but off the partition where either the DataStage software or projects are installed. The goal to is keep storage of that nature from filling the DataStage partition which is nothing but Bad News and leads to project corruption.

Best to create a separate, dedicated storage partition for hashed files, staging, etc.
