reading an empty dataset without errors

In Job #1, one of my output datasets receives zero rows.
In Job #2 I try to read in that dataset, and I get errors.
Should an empty dataset be an error state?? (Even View Data gives an error rathter than just saying "No Rows".)

Is there a way to check the dataset in Job #2 to avoid getting job-stopping errors??
