DataStage 8 installation error

Post by DS_FocusGroup »

Hi all,

I've been getting an error while installating DataStage 8 on my laptop. As soon as I hit the install button after specifying all the necessary info (installation path, components etc.) i get the following error message:
Errors occured during installation:

*Null
*Null
*Null
"
and so on....

I had previously installed DS 8 successfully on the same machine (running WinXP) but could not get to remove it properly (via windows add/remove) and had to delete the DS folder manually (C:\IBM). Since then, I've been getting this installation error. Anyone who's experienced this before or could help rid me of this err. Any specific windows registries I have to delete?

Thanks in advance

I am not at a session where I can check the names, but after deleting the old files you should also delete all of the registry entries.

Delete the InstallShield folder:
C:\Program Files\Common Files\InstallShield\Universal\IBM\InformationServer

Which one - the folder or the registry? I would guess that the folder did it, but it would be nice to know.

I had tried deleting old registries previously but that didn't help. Removing the Installshiled folder did the trick!

Thanks,

I have a similar problem.

We were installing Datastage and the DEV server was restarted while we were doing this. *irritating*. When the server was back up, I tried to remove the software from Add/remove and that said there was some error with this do you want to remove from the list. I click yes.

I stopped the services, deleted the directory \IBM\*, restarted the machine and began the installation again.

This time, when it comes to installing the Application Server, I get this message saying that WAS not not removed properly and I should look in the documentation for instructions to remove manually. I've done this and I cannot figure out how to do this.

Please help?
