scheduling the project export

Post by kirankota79 »

Is it possible to schedule a total project export (dsx file) daily to an ftp server from my datastage server . I want to schedule this daily at 9PM.

Sure.... sorta. Searching for something like 'server export' (all terms) should turn up multiple conversations on this topic, including for examplethis one. What you'll also find is that this needs to happen from the client, not the server.

i took a look at duke consulting backup scripts, where it is mentioned to run these scripts from client machine. Any specific reason?

i work directly on the server. Is there any other way for it?

These utilities exist only on the client side. Why? Ask Ascential / IBM. [shrug]

These work even from the server :D

Only if the server has a Windows OS and has Datastage client installed on it ;)

They do exist and work only from Client, though they(Server and Client) run on same machine.

Only if the client components are installed on the server.

:? In other words, only if you are running a Windows Server AND you have the client components installed on that same server. And it doesn't change the fact that you are running client utilities, not server utilities.

Let's not muddy the water, peoples.
