Migration from Datastage 7.5.2 to Datastage 8.0

Post by AKUMAR21 »

What is the level of effort to convert a datastage 7.5.2 project and jobs to the datastage 8 platform? Are there any showstoppers or major issues with this migration ? Is this a small, medium or large effort from a planning perspective?

In theory all you need to do is export your projects at 7 and import them into 8. In practice things tend not to run that smoothly. A lot depends on the size and complexity of your applications. If you have a relatively new implementation and are limited to PX only then chances are pretty good that the migration will go simply. Older sites with a lot of Server "hacks" might cause more effort - not necessarily because things function differently at V8 but because sources to code might be missing, or special OS search rules or libraries or settings need to be in place and those might easily be missed on the export.

Overall a small to medium effort - less effort in planning than in implementation.
