7.5 - 8x upgrade issue with Teradata PX Stage - bad params

Post by data_whs_team »

We're testing the DS upgrade to 8.0. Everything worked great in 7.5x.

When attempting to run Teradata px stage in 8.0, I get the error
Fatal Error: Fatal: Name is longer than 30 characters.

This is a Teradata error indicating the table name is longer than 30 chars.

What we believe is happening is the environment variable used to define the TD database is not being interpreted properly in the Teradata PX stage. It seems to be reading the entire string (#$Database_Variable#.table_name) as the true table name and not as an interpreted name (db.table_name).

We use environment variables for our database names, and they've worked beautifully in 7.5x.

Has anyone experienced this issue? If so, what was your resolution?

Thanks much,
Cathy

Aha! There's a patch from IBM for this very issue.
