Factless fact table

Hi,

I am new to this tool. So Could you please tell me why we r using factless fact table? For my understanding its a table which contains no facts.

So why we use this table? Any advantages?

Generally we use the factless fact when we want events that happen only at information level but not included in the calculations level.just an information about an event that happen over a period.
Factless fact tables are used for tracking a process or collecting stats. They are called so because, the fact table does not have aggregatable numeric values or information.

Thanx for ur valuable reply. Thing is that i m not getting perfectly. I mean to say which type of process or stats it tracks? Could you please give some ex. or ideas?
